Can I sign a PDF on iPhone without installing an app?

Yes. Editoc runs in Safari, so you open the editor, sign and export without going through the App Store.

Is a signature drawn on the screen legally valid?

It counts as a simple electronic signature, which is accepted for most everyday documents such as quotes, leases and internal paperwork. For documents requiring an advanced or qualified signature (eIDAS level), use a certified signature service.

How is this different from iOS Markup?

Markup is fine for a quick signature. Editoc adds the rest of the PDF workflow in the same place: editing text, filling fields, merging files, redacting sensitive data and compressing the result.

Is my signature stored by Editoc?

The signature is drawn and applied on your device. Editoc processes core operations locally in the browser; the signed document is yours to export and share.

Does it work on iPad with Apple Pencil?

Yes. The editor works the same way in Safari on iPad, and drawing a signature is even more precise with the Apple Pencil.

Do I need an internet connection?

You need to load the page first. The signing itself is processed on the device, so a brief connection drop while you work is not a problem.

Sign a PDF on iPhone, no app needed

1. Open editoc.com in Safari and load the PDF from Files, iCloud Drive or an email attachment.
